I was installing LM 7.1 to a friends computer. During the installation
process I created two Linux partitions.
One Linux native (ext2), bootable, 2.2 GB and a Linux swap of 128 MB
Installation finished OK. Because the H/D is shared with Win 98 I use System
Commander to boot. System Commander detected a Swap Linux partition of 2.3
GB not bootable. I thought that I made a big mistake during the installation
and
to double check I used fdisk that confirmed the presence of only one Linux
partition(non dos). So I did a new install deleting the partition with fdisk
and creating again the same Linux partitions with the mandrake install.
Yes you guessed right. Again one huge swap file and nothing else.
System Commander and fdisk confirmed that so I used the rescue disk. It
booted up to a point and then I got the message <<kernel panic no file
system present>> or something similar.
Can you please help??
This is the first time that I install Linux and I run into this kind of
problem. All my other installations went fine and actually a month ago we
did a LM7.0 install on that particular box.
Any help will be appreciated.
