I just got my sound working along with my CDROM, using 7.1 coz 7.2 is
about as hard to find as a linux expert in this country.
My problem is when I use XMMS in KDE.
I noticed that my box was running slower when I started playing mp3s.
I just swapped for a no-name 128 mb DIMM last week and I have a feeling its
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddd....even in Windows 2000 b.c.[before chmouel] hehehehe
I originally had 98 and had to
linux mem=128m..You know!!!!
Now I run the sysinfo app before I start xmms and it dwindles from 54m free to
about 1.24m.
After that, the system becomes very slooooooooow.
I can play mp3s but it stops every two songs and says it can't find my soundcard.
But I press x and it starts after about 2 tries.
What's the issue here?
Do I have bad ram?
Is 128m not enough to run K-jofol?
Is this normal in 7.1???
And what about this stopping between songs?
So many questions..............
I have a CMI8738 sound onboard my MOBO and it works fine.
By the way, I've successfully recompiled my kernel after reading bits from
this list...keep the 411 coming guys! I'm learning more here than from reading the
HOWTOs.
My sound works and linux couldn't be better, except perhaps if I can get my
hands on a 7.2 set.
Thanks for the help in advance.
