I have read the articles, and it does sound like something that Microsoft
could and would pull off. Sounding like the caring company that is scared of
their beloved customers falling into the trap of BIOS messages that no boot
device was found. As if no other operating system than Windows exists.
It is a form of protectionism, because they must have noticed that Linux and
Beos are not that bad as Micro$oft is trying to depict them.
A part that made me giggle though was, that they claim that someone not using
windows will be the victim of many virusses (Need I say Outlook? !!!) and also
being left without support.
Well... I have had my own computer support company, and I have only once in 6
years succeeded to get some useful support from a microsoft employee. Which
happened only after I deposited over US$300 in the M$ bankaccount, which
granted me support for 2 months or 5 questions.
When I started using Linux and ran into problems, I have had so much support
(for free!!) and so fast, that at first I was amazed. (Still am at times.)
just my two euro-cents...

Do you remember when you only had to pay for windows
when *you* broke them?
