Seems like the problem's not isolated to 3dfx Voodoo3, but to the 3dfx Banshee too which I am using in my Mandrake 8 machine. On top of the problems I've encountered trying to get games or MTV to run in full screen, XMMS (with the SMPEG plugin), xanim or noatun all are unable to even run MPEG video files. Avifile, for playing AVIs and ASFs, won't run in full-screen anymore either - but crashes the X-server. Sigh.
