[newbie] Ftp Conf?

hi yall,
    when i create a user,  i add it to groups (apache and ftp)...    i set
them up as a vhost...  /vhost/user1       /vhost/user2     when i login with
ftp,  the ftp logs into the dir path i put into user account....
but if i clk back button or up dir,   it will display all dir's back to
root...    no permissions to do anything,  but u can see them in ftp...
can i stop this?
only show user's files?
