   You might also consider a Soyo K7VTA Pro. It's recommended by AMD 
(www.amd.com) for use with up to Tbird 1.4 gig, while none of the 
Abit's are.  Duke of URL (http://dukeofurl.dhs.org/) also reviewed the 
board for Linux and gave it a strong recommendation. It's also less 
expensive than the Abit, and Soyo's have very low RMA (defective) 
rates, while Abit's have one of the highest. Soyo's have all the needed 
features for overclocking/tweaking also.  I can recommend Soyo from 
personal experience, both my own systems and building them for others, 
both Intel and AMD based. Stable to the point of being bulletproof, 
even when severely oc'd.
