I can provide some more hardware info if necessary.. here is some that may
be useful:

The dvd drive is EIDE ATAPI UDMA66 (on a 66 bus).
The CPU is 800mhz Athlon.
The HD is a hardware (on motherboard) Mirror RAIDed pair of UDMA100 (on a
100 bus) IBM HDs.
The motherboard is an ABIT KT7A-RAID.

After deleting the partitions, I tried rebooting (hoping that windoze would
startup), but I couldn't get the system to find the win partition. I then
tried a boot disk, but that failed in the exact same place (Verifying DMI
pool data).

The only way I could fix the problem is to install mandrake 8.0 again which
seems to have allowed me to now get into windoze again.

Subject: [newbie] No hdlists found

I am getting an error while trying to install using the latest Mandrake Freq
disks. I formatted the HD (I had a swap of 512mb, then a primary NTFS
partition of 19gb, then a root partition of 8gb), and then I started the
install after selecting the packages I wanted. When it finished installing,
I got an error message telling me that my CD drive wasn't working properly
(I have a 12x DVD drive by Delta). It then took me back to the partition
formatting view and told me that an error occurred and that "no hdlists
found". What does this mean? What is "hdlists"? I have tried reformatting
the partitions and I have tried reorganizing the partitions, but the same
error keeps occurring.

Since I am sure I will be asked why I am using the Mandrake Freq
distribution: I have tried the 8.0 distribution and after trying numerous
installation attempts, I gave up. Every time I ended up with an OS that
starts, but is missing lots of files and packages that were supposedly
installed, but were completely non-existent. I hand installed some of
these, but it was not worth the effort to keep trying to figure out what was
missing, where it was expected, where to find it, and how to install it.

Thank you for any assistance...
