No.. I have the DVD on a UDMA66 ribbon (the primary) and I have my HD on a
UDMA100 ribbon (primary also).  This does seem to work with Mandrake 8.0
just fine (there are other problems with the 8.0 install that are
unrelated), just not the Freq distribution.. there must be some kind of bug
that was introduced.

Are you running a hard drive and a CD device both on the same IDE port? If
so, try moving the CD device to the other port (i.e. the other IDE cable).
