Umm, sheesh, you caught me at a bad time.  I have too many plates spinning now and 
we're in beta here
at mandrakesoft which means that if we sleep more than 4 hours a day, we need a 
medical excuse and a 
1000 word essay promising never to do it again during a beta ;-}  I am unsure when it 
will be over.

But there are certainly some competent engineers out there who might like to look at 
winmodem source.  If
it is truly free software, there are probably a few who'd like to hack on it.  I 
suggest you post this question
to the expert list.
