I really haven't used Gnome in a couple of years, Gnome uses Sawfish by default (Sawfish was an upgrade from the old Sawmill) and has the capability of using others. Sorry about the confusion--should have said "one of the Gnome windows managers". XFce uses XFwm, lightweight and quick, with the option to load something called "XFgnome". XFwm will handle all Gnome apps (and kde apps too--at least I haven't found any that it won't--they just tend to open slower). erylon
