I'm curious about something after reading this thread. to the original
poster...
are you and/or the root user part of the group allowed to access the
CDROM/CD-RW device? typically, upon install everyone in most cases, is
able to access the CDROM device, but sometimes they have to be added to
that "group" in order the gain access. the same goes for cdwriter. you
can check, and if need be make the necessary additions with userdrake.
