Linux, despite being close, is not a windows desktop beater, it requires far
to much 'twiddling' to get it all working correctly and a much higher level
of knowledge to maintain and use it - some suit can push it all they like,
but if its not at least as user friendly as windows, its not going to catch
on with the general public.

box makers have tried Linux on machines, and it has flopped, simply due to
lack of public interest.

The fact that their is a wide spread (ok geek community <g>) alternative
that is constantly improving and gaining ground will be enough to make MS
feel a little less secure
