Hello,

Yesterday I upgraded my LM 80 (it was installed using
Power Pack edition.) machine to LM 81. I did it using
the "Download Edition".

After upgrading I got the following problems:

1. Two of my icons have dissapeared from desktop but I
can still see the text for these icons. These are
Mandrake's icons.

2. If I want to access my Zip drive I receive a
message saying that:
"The drive is closed and I don't have enough access
rights."

The only problem with this message is that I was loged
as root and I am wondering how can be possible to be
restricted if I am root ?

3. Before upgrading the bash shell displayed nicely
the directory into which I was (using the terminal,
text mode). Now I get this:
"bash-2.05#"
without of course dysplaying the path where I am
currently working.

I suppose some config files were overwritten during
install, but I don't know "Which".

Regarding this situation I would like to mention that
I don't understand "Why" when upgrading a system these
files are overwritten. That's not normal.

Besides nowhere in documentation (or at least it
appears so to me) is written about these config files.

I think that Mandrake Support team should include in
further releases of their documentation a detailed
description of these configuration files, their role
and how can be modified if necessary.

Many people are bugged down by these issues. Don't
tell me that I have to use :
man <command>

When an evolved GUI like KDE and Gnome exists the help
should include these issues also, imho.

I will ppreciate if you give me few hints how these 3
problems could be possibly solved.

Thanks a lot,
Alex
