Thanks, Onur, but that didn't work either. New command I tried was:
cd /home/paul/.seti ; sudo -u paul ./setistack > /dev/null 2> /dev/null It just sort of waits during boot at the part that says "starting linuxconf hooks", as when I tried "su -c".
