Civilme, I rm'd the ~/.kde folder as you suggested and I deleted the DCOPserver_localhost.localdomain_:0 file as well. Issued a startx (which I dont have any reason to believe is the problem) and I got the same error screen from KDE. My .xsession-errors file says:
"iceauth: timeout in locking authority file /home/scott/.ICEauthority KCrash: crashing.... crashResursionCounter = 2 KCrash: Application Name = ksplash path = <unknown> pid = 2586 IO error opening ICE Connection! IO error opening ICE Connection! kdeinit: DCOPserver could not be started, aborting." It sounds like the the .ICEAuthority file is corrupted. Should I rm it and try KDE again? Hmmm try rm -r ~/.kde -f then startx The safe way to start window managers from the console is probably Xtart. There is a bug in the current one, and I am not sure Xtart-1.1 has made it to mirrors so download at http://www.civileme.net/Xtart-1.1-6mdk.i586.rpm Then install with rpm -Uvh Xtart-1.1-6mdk.i586.rpm Civileme >
