This is hopefully going to be a help to some folks, and a minimal embarrassment to me. My one real complaint with 8.2 was that I could not get a CD player to work, not CDplayer or XMMS. So I was fiddling with it tonight and decided to dump the SBlive card and just use the onboard sound. Ok, I open up the case and unplug the cable from the SBLive card and go to put it in the mobo connection and the other end of the cable falls out and dangles from my hand. I could swear I plugged it in but obviously not. So no matter how sure you are that you connected something, if you are having problems with a device that is supposed to be supported, open up the durn case and make sure it is plugged in.
