The packages that are messed up, you can fix them, after removing Thac as an 
urpmi source, by uninstalling with urpme, then reinstalling with urpmi.

My problem was that I'd messed up so many packages that I couldn't get them 
all fixed. I just kept finding new things that were broken, so I gave up.

Once deficiency in urpmi seems to be the ability to revert to a previous 
version of a package. If it's a kde package that you've upgrade, uninstall 
sometimes means uninstalling all of kde, due to dependencies (though I think 
there's a way to tell it to ignore dependencies).
