I had the same problem with 10.1 on my new desktop. I suspect it was the SATA (Serial ATA) support on the motherboard that was causing the problem. Linux SATA support is pretty new, and may not have been available/working in 10.1. Probably not the same problem with a laptop, though. Anyway, to get around this, boot into failsafe mode, then run the commands: chkconfig --del harddrake reboot When it reboots, try the regular boot again, and it should skip the checking for new hardware step. -- Ron ronhd at users dot sourceforge dot net Opinions expressed here are all mine.
