I think I know what caused it. I was looking at my graphics card in harddrake, and I cllicked options. It asked me if I wanted to run X.org at boot. I just closed the window without saying yes or no (thinking that would preserve the original setting). I ran it again and said yes. I dont have the problem anymore. (Although the GTK warning is still displayed at the console). Thanks for your help Mikkel, Jarlath
