Rosemary; Due to an email problem a few days ago, I don't know if you received my email on Thursday or Friday, but in case you didn't, try installing the two 'pcmcia' packages from your CD's or from an urpmi site.

Problem here in that my CDs are installing erratically, and I do not seem to be able to configure easyurpimi, which was a breeze in 10.1.

Normally, they're used in laptops, but if they install, they include a small daemon to monitor and control your smart-card reader. That might solve all your problems. You might need to start them, and keep an eye out for a new service called 'pscd' in MCC>System>Services. That's the daemon I was mentioning. It needs to be started on bootup as well.

That might solve your whole problem.

Would be great if it does ...

On a different note, if your camera uses a USB or Firewire connection to connect to your PC, make sure that the camera is in the 'Play' mode and your photo programs (Digikam and GPhoto) should see the camera and allow you to transfer pictures from the camera to your PC. You might need to configure your photo application so that it sees the camera. Again, make sure it's it 'Play' mode for that as well.

HTH

Seems I am just out of luck with this .... but you are right maybe some configuration ...
