| #| Yes - unfortunately I bought my camera last year when I had no intention

Ah, but we were talking about a SERIAL Kodak, with a flashcard. My DC215
isn't fine with Linux. My Olympus is mounted as a drive, just like my usb
pendrive, when I plug it in. No Gphoto2 interface needed, which is why I
prefer USB Mass Storage compatible devices. Still, if it works--great.
That's what we want. When a device doesn't work, because the manufacturer
doesn't give a damn about Linux (or Apple) and keeps their protocols so
tightly they must be reverse engineered--then we've got a problem. And, what
the hell is wrong with using USB Mass Storage?? Every operating system can
work with it, with no outside help. Just what is the reasoning of the
manufacturers that use their own protocol? I really don't understand,
because I would think they would want their devices to work easily and simply
with everything. To not do so can, and should, actually cost them sales.
Rant over.
