Two wee observations then silence on my part. You do have a very good
point there. One bad thing happening in the US is "over-homogenization".
This is affecting our laws as well as our culture. We, meaning the world
here, need the leavening of multiple cultures to er cross pollinate
each other to renew our vigor. We need it to allow people who are
not happy here can go there wherever here and there may be. When they
do they need to face incentives to work and join their adoptive culture.
But they should not have their own culture shut away from them. The US
got great from all the cultures that went into forming our culture. With
our homogenization we're losing that "spice" that pushed us forward. So,
no, I don't want US culture to take over the world. (On one other hand
I might note that the world adopting the "leave me alone to be my potty
old self and don't bug me cause if you do I'll erupt" might be a good
thing. We need a better dose of carrot and stick wrt "don't fsck
with my life."
And the second observation is that he way things are going we may need
you folks in good enough shape to rescue US from our own idiocy.
Throughout our history we've proven our only fully competent enemy
worthy of our nastiest efforts is, quite unfortunately, ourselves.
And we seem to be doing it to ourselves again.
{o.o} (50 years ago I was accused of being a cynical child. With a
much longer view on the world I must observe that I was badly
underestimating reality.)
