Hi all,
On Mandrake 10.0, is PHP loaded with MySQL support by default?
I'd think yes, because phpMyAdmin works without a problem, but when I
try to access a mysql-table myself from php, I see a message "Fatal
error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in <name of page>".
Why is mysql_connect() a stranger??
I looked at all the installed and installable packages, but I can't find
anything that looks like php-mysql or so. Everything I find online looks
as if things should just work.
I also tried to find something in the phpMyAdmin sourcecode, but that is
just too much for me at the moment.
I did see that in /etc/php.ini the sql.safe_mode option is turned off.
Now... where could mysql_connect be hidden?

not sure here, but you might want to read up on setting the passwords
for mysql.
also you say "try to access a mysql-table myself from php" do you mean
from a php web page? and is that php page part of a package, or just
something you wrote today?
