On a HP Presario zv5360us with 768mb of ram and intel cpu, onboard wireless and I have been through 3 or 4 tutorials or howto's and using ndiswrapper my wireless built in nic is recognized but won't access the router. Says "no networks detected". Kwifimanager says I have 54mbps and 100% signal but not connected. So has anyone else fought this fight and won, and if so, any ideas what I might be doing wrong. I am nearly incoherent with this. Oh, maybe that is my normal state, anyway, help is appreciated.

Dennis; Did you try looking at www.zd7000forums.com ? The site is all about the Z-Series HP laptops and your situation has been asked and answered about 20 or 30 times.

There's a good thread on this exact situation here;

If that doesn't do it for you, get back to the list or to me directly. The guy who posted that solution actually had a few minor things missing, but a few follow-ups in that thread solved the rest of the issues.

If you have to resort to ndiswrapper, make sure that the verion matches your kernel as closely as possible or compile one from source - it takes about 30 seconds to do and the ndiswrapper site has detailed instructions.

My HP laptop didn't come equipped with the wireless card installed (it's the exact same one you have now), which is a mini-pci card that is installed in the same compartment as your ram. Instead, I picked up a DLink DWL-AG660 CardBus (PCMCIA) card instead, which works fine with the linuxant package.

Your wireless card is probably the Broadcom 94306 Mini-PCI wireless 'G' card, and a lot of people on the site above have it working like a charm, so it's definitely a workable card.
