Happy Saturday.
Can anyone point me to data recovery options? Hosed a
win2k drive this morning. I don't think it's panic data,
but I would like to give recovery a shot and the drive
doesn't appear to be physically damaged.
I think drive was ntfs formatted.
I googled a hundred win progs that all claim success, but
can't find a linux alternative.
TIA

Download a LiveCD iso if you are only after files on the hard drive,
something like Knoppix or PCLOS should do the trick. Burn it as an image
and reboot after being sure that your system will boot from the cd
before the hard drive. Mount your windows partition in read only mode
and enjoy getting your files out of that hole.
