Do you just want to play commercial DVD's, or do you also want to play other formats like windows media or divx (I'm guessing with a slow dial-up you don't need streaming media from the web)? I don't think all those PLF player and codec files are required for just watching DVD's. Trust me it's easier to use the Software Installer for this to resolve the dependencies, most of the players have quite complex requirements. If you just want commercial DVD playing then use the Software Installer to select just the basic library files required for DVD's one at a time to get the minimal install required, i.e. start with the small dvd libraries, then install a basic player, then if you find you need the PLF players and codecs they can be downloaded later. If you're preferring to download them individually and cope with the dependency hell, you can find all the plf files at: http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandrake/free/10.1/i586/ http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandrake/free/10.1/noarch/ http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandrake/non-free/10.1/i586/ http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandrake/non-free/10.1/noarch/ For DVD decoding and menus you need the following from PLF free/10.1/i586/ : libcss0-0.1.0-3plf.i586.rpm 15kb libdvdcontrol9-0.9.2-1plf.i586.rpm 14kb libdvdcss2-1.2.8-1plf.i586.rpm 30kb And the following from the Mandrake CD's, or if you only have the 3CD install set then whatever online Main repository you have configured: libdvdnav4-0.1.10-1mdk.i586.rpm 80kb libdvdread3-0.9.4-3mdk.i586.rpm 45kb And from whatever Contrib repository you have: libdvdplay0-1.0.1-5mdk.i586.rpm 32kb At this point I believe most of the DVD players on the Mandrake install CD's (Xine, MPlayer, Kaffeine, Totem, etc) should now be able to play commercial DVD's, but not all of them support DVD Menus, last I checked Xine was best for that. Install the versions from the install CD's first and try them (you may need to temporarily disable the online PLF and Main sources to do this), only if they don't work then try upgrading to the PLF versions of Xine or MPlayer. I strongly recommend using the Software installer for this as both Xine and MPlayer have very complex dependencies and the installer will choose the minimum required for you. Cheers! John.
