Rosemary,

You need to do the following:

1. locate the directory where are the Firefox's plugins (in my case,
/home/psmith/firefox/plugins);

2. locate the file libjavaplugin_oji.so (in my case, it is in 
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7/);

3. cd to the directory found in 1;

4. finally, do:

ln -s /usr/java/jre1.5.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
libjavaplugin_oji.so

(Notice that you should replace /usr/java/jre1.5.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7/
with the appropriate directory for you.)
