Go into /etc/fstab and remove all references to /dev/hdb. Once you do that,
halt the machine, remove the second drive and restart.

If you already have the second drive removed, boot from the Mandriva CD, Hit
F1, type in rescue and then mount your drives. The pointers to /dev/hdb
should fail. Then, go into /mnt/etc and edit the fstab, remove entries
related to /dev/hdb and then restart your system. That should take care of
the problem of removing the second hard drive.
