Not to sway too far away from the norm, I love using my mc as well - and can't have a system without it (unless it's someone else's system, then I really don't care). With that said, on the last install of LE2005, I ended up getting the latest source code and recompiling mc with all the way-cool options that aren't included in the mc that comes packaged already with Mandriva (no flames here folks). So, being that I compiled it myself, I was able to add in all the nifty cool features like smb protocol handling and the likes...SO, if you cannot resolve the issue with rpm's or updates, you might consider that as an alternative option, mate!
