urpmi.update -a as mentioned
Visit http://seerofsouls.com/addmedia and add online sources for Main and Contrib for Cooker(assuming that's what you want) as there are NO updates for Cooker.
urpmi kernel-2.6 as mentioned above
urpmi --auto-select --auto
The urpmi urpmi command is pointless and obsolete starting with 10.1. The very first thing urpmi --auto-select does is check for a new version of urpmi, installs it if there is one, then restarts the urpmi service so that all packages installed thereafter are installed using the new version of urpmi. It's an amazing new thing they added a year or so ago and makes life easier.
Once it's complete, cat /etc/mandriva-release and it should tell you you're running cooker.
The URL above can also be reached by going to http://urpmi-addmedia.org We run all 5 mirrors on that rotation site for the Mandriva community.
Enjoy and good luck. Have BACKUPS!
