I have had the same problem on a VIA C3 CPU. The problem is reported as BUG 18603 View the bug report at http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=18603 If you follow the workaround listed and download libfb.so from http://people.mandriva.com/~gbeauchesne/i586/2006.0/xorg/libfb.so then it will work. BTW: The best way to get the file is from the console wget http://people.mandriva.com/~gbeauchesne/i586/2006.0/xorg/libfb.so To download the file, then mv libfb.so /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/ then init 3 To make sure you are in run level 3 followed by init 5 X should now start up. It may be useful to urpmi mc To use the text based file manager Midnight Commander derek -- www.jennings.homelinux.net http://twiki.mdklinuxfaq.org
