1- ATI FrieGL cards. Do the ATI drivers work as they should?
There are ATi drivers for linux, but many people have problems with
them.
2- Nvidia Quadro cards?
I don't know about Quadro, but NVidia cards generally work OK but
usually need a little work for best results.
Are ATI FireGL drivers included in the main edition (PowerPack and
up). Any failure in installing these drivers? They are only available
in rpm format while Nvidia drivers not. So i tend to think there is
more chance that Nvidia drivers work without any problem.
The generaly recommendation is to avoid ATi unless you really enjoy a
fight ;-) OTOH, there are kernel modules for firewire. One of my
boxes has an Audigy card with firewire, and the driver appears to load
perfectly. I don't have any firewire devices, so I can't test it,
though.
3- Audigy sound cards with firewire port. By searching the web, i
know that the sound works, but my main concern now is if the firewire
work too?

I don´t have enough PCI slots in my PC, so i have to go for combo
cards. The firewire side of the Belkin USB/Firewire combo card that i
purchased a couple of months ago, does not work under Linux despite
the report some one gave on internet that this card works under
Mandrake 10.0. So now i am going to sell it out on Ebay and try other
possible options: One is Audigy cards with Firewire (and using a USB
standalone card then). I certainly want to have firewire access under
Linux, since i am about to begin video capturing and editing and my
capture card is firewire (Canopus ADVC-110, just purchased).
If someone reports that it worked under MDK 10.0 I would be very
surprised if you couldn't get it working with 2005/2006. Before giving
up on it, try asking about it specifically on this and the Expert list.
While some people read both lists, many don't, so you need to widen
your chances that someone knows the key to this.

Thanks Ann for the response. My firewire card is detected too and the
firewire modules are all loaded (as far as i can say so after i did a
Google search on this). When i attach a firewire hard drive, i think it
is also even detected because i see a new device under unknown devices.
That´s it! Mandrake does not define it as a new hard drive! It is not
seen then! I did a google search and found out later that i am having
the very same error that some others have had with this Belkin card, and
those people were hackers, geeks who happen to mention the problem but
they do not give any solution for it! So i guess, i can´t find any
solution for the problem.
So i think seeing the firewire and loading the modules does not mean
it will work!! It really has to be checked with real firewire device.
I will write here the error i get soon, maybe somebody here knows how to
solve the problem though this is not my main problem as i can connect
this hard drive via USB when i am in Linux. The important thing is that
i want my video capturing device work under Linux. I know that this
device works under Linux since it is a hardware capturing device not
software and people have used it under Linux without any problem.
