First. NFS has nothing to do with networking to Windows computers. It is for 
networking Linux/Unix computers. If you go to Mandriva 
CantrolCentre>System>Services and uncheck the box on 'nfslock', then it will 
not run on the next boot and you will not see that message again.

Second. One of the most common problems networking to Windows is caused by 
incorrect firewall settings. Are you running the firewall in Linux? If so 
then make sure the box to allow Windows networking is ticked.
