Actually, recently Gmail changed it so it won't accept <> as a valid
entry in the reply-to field in one's gmail preferences. And
technically since they're in the right according to mail protocol
standards, and it's our habits and the clients mistakes on how to deal
with the mailing list, we can't exactly blame them. However, on the
other hand, since they're trying to encourage us to use such buttons,
they should be providing a reply-list or reply-all option when one is
reading their mailing list emails.

After this issue started getting complained about on the list the
first time, I had an acquantance spend a considerable length of time
yelling at me about how we're being stupid on the list, and how one
should be using a reply-all or reply-list sort of option to respond to
the list, and the reply-to should be going directly to the poster.

Since gmail has disabled this "fix", those of us who use gmail should
simply add a "I'm using gmail" style notification either at the
beginning or end of our messages so that people realize they need to
pay attention and simply not blindly reply using the single person
reply button/link in their mail client of choice.
