AFAIAC 2006 rox!... I am now 100% M$ free and so is my life-partner. She is happy and does not complain about viruses/blue screens of (you know what)/etc anymore. She worries that she doesn't get the problems that she used to have regularly with M$... whatever she wants to do- she does - her digital camera is recognised whenever she plugs it in - her email just works - she surfs the net, she prints, she asks why it just happens... I am not constantly debugging her machine. Gotta love 'nix!!!! No distro is perfect for everyone but Mandriva 2006 comes pretty close. Can anyone name one distro (of any OS) that works for everyone no matter what their hardware is...???? BTW... Is Stephen Kuhn still in his mortal coil... I miss the interchange between SK and others.. his ascerbic wit is appreciated by moi! But FWIW 'Nix ROX!!!!!! regards Graham ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Graham I have had word that Yank Down Under is working on a project that will keep him occupied for a bit and not on line or lists etc. Wish I could agree with you on Mandriva but 10.1 stopped starting X for no reason and I had to re-install. I will buy the 2006 CD's and give that a try. Best distro for "just working " that I have seen is Linspire. Earl
