Actually, Mandriva do heavily patch KDE to make it look and work their way, 
hence the usual huge delays between K releasing a new version and Mandriva 
shipping it.  Most of the work is to make it integrate better with Mandriva's 
config tools, menu system, hardware integration, etc, which are more 
Gtk/Gnome based.
