This is not really 'spyware', just cookies so that doubleclick can track your every move and interest as you surf the net. They can then compile a nice dossier about you and sell it to whoever is interested. This is more of a privacy issue. Real spyware is usually a program that resides on your computer and passes info to someone else, such as all the keystrokes you use when you do online banking, for example. Makes cleaning out your bank account rather easy. :-) This is more of a security issue. Needs a long, complex answer, but the short version is that it is much less of a problem so far than with Windows. RRP> I know some anti-spyware for Win, for example: MS, yahoo, spybot, RRP> etc. Do we really have to be concerned about it under linux? Install privoxy, and set your browsers to use it. As installed, it will take care of doubleclick, and some of the more common ones. You can add as many more of these slimeballs as you wish. Search for 'hosts file' and get one of the more complete and up to date ones to see how many there are (usually many hundreds). Privacy is disappearing fast. Keep as much as you can..... -- rikona mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
