Derek, doesn't anacron take care of that for you though? I mean it still runs 
at 4am (or whenever you designate) every day, right?

I do understand where it would fall down though. If you had just installed a 
large package with multiple dependencies and wanted to find a particular file 
*now*, it wouldn't have it in its database. Still, its not that hard to open 
a shell and run it manually - even on my "filled up" 120 gig HD it doesn't 
take that long.

I just installed 2006 on my sons comp last week and one of the first things I 
did was urpme kat, after reading the testimony from users with problems with 
it, here.
