You might try (if you are using KDE) Star->Office->Accessories->Character Map.
Open Character Map, then using the drop-down menu in the upper left hand side
of the screen (the one to select your font style), scroll down and select
"Standard Symbols L". Then select "Common" from the Character Map sidebar on
the left-hand side of the screen.

At this point, the character table (which comprises the main part of the
screen) will display a grid containing various symbols such as dollar signs,
punctuation marks, etc. Using your scroll bar, or as I did, the mouse wheel,
begin scrolling down through the screens. You will pass varying blocks of
characters such as pipes, bars, percent signs, and other critters that I have
no idea what they are. You will even pass through areas where no symbols will
be present. Do not get discouraged though! These are just blank blocks, you
are still scrolling. Ultimately you will come upon more symbols. Slow your
scrolling till you come to the Euro sign. It will be in with a group of
blocks containing several other currency symbols. Click and hold on the Euro
sign and drag it to Text To Copy at the bottom of the screen. Click the Copy
button and the symbol will be copied to Klipper.

By the way, you can employ the bold, italic, and font size controls at the top
of Character Map's screen to adjust style and size.
