kfind is accessable from konqueror
Tools>FindFile

kfind performs a brute force search and is slow (like Windows)

slocate makes a file database but you have to build the database first with
'updatedb' but only root user is allowed to build the database, so open a
terminal, enter 'su' to become root user, then 'updatedb' Install 'anacron'
and the database will be updated once a week automatically.

You can use slocate within konqueror if you also install kio_locate (it is on
the 'contrib' mirrors if you have not added a contrib source yet go to
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ )

Then you can serach by entering
locate:string

in the url line of konqueror. See
http://www.jennings.homelinux.net/locate.html

then enter locate:
