Sorry Jim, that was from my prompt in a terminal to show you how it
could be done using the bash shell and commands to find if its
installed.

Actually, the vimtutor is a shell script stored in the /usr/bin
directory and can only be accessed from a terminal (konsole, xterm)
Can you use Konqueror to traverse to /usr/bin and see if
/usr/bin/vimtutor is there ? 

  if not, have you learned how to install software packages
using the Mandriva Control Center ? the twiki has some good links
for getting started authored by many readers of these lists.

Since your on dial-up, what version of Mandriva are you
using ?

I started with 9.2 and hosed my PC for 2+ weeks and almost did give
up, but kept reading, re-installing, more reading ... and
I would encourage you not to give up Jim, it may be a steep learning
curve but well worth the trip ;)
