In the configure media window, I find that checking "enabled" does not remain checked in plf-free, plf-non-free, and updates. I can understand this being so in the case of plf-non-free, but the intractability of "plf-free" and "updates" baffles a mind that seeks simplicity. "Main" and "Contrib" hold crosses in both "enabled" and "updates", for reasons equally inscrutable.
Worst of all is that I did something way too clever a couple of weeks ago
(before I understood that not all the software on the DVD gets installed during the installation of 2006) and removed the DVD as a source for urpmi. No way is apparent to reverse this.

I'm itching to delete Amarok and KsCD because of their over-eager tendency to hijack my intentions ; and because they somehow leave other applications like Limewire and Grip voiceless until reboot. But if I have to reinstall them after discovering that the alternatives are equally frustrating
there will be trouble with the enforcer of the download budget.
