If your objective is to transfer files then the easiest way would by Kfish. Set up KDE with all components including Kbear. Set up eather or both computers as SSH servers. Set up ping to ping one to the other and ping for connection. Establish SSH connection. From one to the other or from both to its counterpart. If all above is working well then go to Konqueror and for URL use fish:// <Numerical address of other computer> and you should have a very nice file transfer connection.
