Well, I think that this demonstrates rather well the importance in people conforming to expected standards when requesting help from others. But, although there has been a lot of traffic about people leaving the group, I am not sure that I have seen too many people asking questions who don't get some type of answer, or at least pointers to help them solve problems. So, I wouldn't despair for the list just yet. Fact is, people come and people go and ultimately, no one is indispensable. Hopefully, other people will come to the list over time and add some new expertise. Just my .02 though, I do think maintaining separate lists is a good thing. Fact is, my expectations for the lists, as I am on both, are different. I expect people on the Expert list to do more of the plain legwork than I do on Newbie and expect, in general, the questions to be more exact, the information provided to be better and the person better versed in general Linux administration, than I do on the Newbie list. I have a greater tendency to ignore people who don't match up to that on the Expert list. Also, I am much more quick to killfile people who make unreasonable demands, have unreasonable expectations, or who violate mailing list conventions and standards on the Expert list than I have been on Newbie. Again, based on those different expectations. That may not necessarily be a good thing since repetition of some things can really irritate you over time. But, I tend to give a greater benefit of the doubt on Newbie and suspect that some others probably do as well. ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
