Most of the fax-sending applications on the web upload the document 
from your computer using a web interface accessed by your browser. 
Usually the document has to be in a specific format like PDF or MS 
Word. Also, you are expected to pay for the service. I don't know 
of any that are free for sending faxes. That isn't to say that 
there aren't any. Maybe if you dig deep, you'll find one. 

If you sign up for one, make sure you indicate that your system is 
Linux. They have the cheap programs for Windows because they can 
install proprietary software on the computer. Their proprietary 
programs don't run on Linux computers, so they generally charge you 
a bit more to use the service. Maybe they can run using Wine these 
days, but when I last tried using Wine, they didn't run.
