I tried running the command but it doesn't create the finances folder in the menu. I believe I'm missing other folders as well. Might I not have installed everything correctly?

I have just installed Mandriva 2006 DVD on my Dell Dimension 8100. It
does not come with Kmymoney preinstalled. So I downloaded the newest
version and installed it. It installed fine but it is not in the
applications menu or any menu. I don't know how to launch it or if I've
installed it incorrectly. Can anyone help with this?

Did you try running "update-menus -v" as root and your normal user?

HTHs.
