Ok it seems the old drive still has entries in the master boot
record for an old install of 98 which grub is picking up on. if
it is the first drive, "master on an IDE setup then boot from a
98 system floppy and type "fdisk mbr". This will rest the master
boot record. DONT do it if the drive is a slave or you will have
even more probs booting xp. Is xp using fat32 or ntfs for its
file system? Try doing the Mandriva control centre stuff ubove
and see if Mandriva picks up your xp entries in the mbr. if it
does add it to the boot options and remove the 98 option.
