It's possible that this would help if you've trashed the install somehow (e.g. 
gone in as root and deleted an essential library, or messed up a config 
file), but it's unlikely. Remember, this is not Windoze. We don't suffer from 
random corruption of installed software. It doesn't change unless you change 
it.

Did harddrake work previously?

I had to disable harddrake during boot because it was hanging trying to probe 
the SATA interface, but I'm still on 10.1. I think they have this fixed in 
2006.

Have you tried, as root, to run "harddrake2" from the command line to see if 
it reports any problems?
