Try typing the commands this way:

/sbin/iptables -L -v
/sbin/service shorewll stop
/sbin/shorewall clear
First command gives me "no such directory", and the second two give me
"cannot find ...". I selected "standard" for security, and had not set
up firewall yet though.

Your root path may not be set correctly for some reason. You can
confirm this by typing as root:

echo $PATH
Gives me "/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/
usr/local/sbin"

I installed 2006 again.

Thanks

Hmm, looks to me that if your path is set correctly but the programs are not found that something went seriously wrong during or after your install. Is the /sbin directory even there?

Also, look to see if shorewall and iptables are listed in /sbin:
ls /sbin
Are those services even installed?
