Ya, I know, Joe and KDE??

Anyhow, this household is about to be Windows free for good, and I have my
wife's comp (my old one ;-)) loaded with 2006, and I installed KDE thinking
I'll set aside my (well-founded) dislike of KDE and let them enjoy the eye
candy and the easy interface and all that.

First thing I did was uninstall kat! Fsck that thing is a hog!!

On to my question.

I thought KDE had somehow *magically* found a way to have the sound server
available to more than one user/app at the same time. I would like to have it
so that my wife and daughter can both use the comp without logging out, but
both have sound. Is this possible? I'm using the ALSA driver for my onboard
sound (yeah, I know, I'm not expecting much out of that), I coulda' sworn I saw
somebody post that they were happy that KDE had found a way to 'multiplex' (?)
the sound a ways back.

Any tips?

Oh, and that startup sound when KDE loads, or more appropriately,
looooooooooaaaaaaaaads, who's brilliant idea was that?? That's getting disabled
right quick.

God I hate KDE.
